Suede at the Crown & Anchor – Tuesday, August 20 @ 7pm!

Suede

It’s been said of Suede, that she’s “like Adele meets Diana Krall meets Bette Midler—sassy, smooth and intoxicating.” The Boston Globe says she’s “Wicked exciting!” Selling out clubs like Boston’s Scullers Jazz Club, New York’s famous Birdland and being the late, great Joan Rivers’ opening act, The Crown & Anchor is Suede’s Provincetown home and she’s always thrilled to come back for a few shows a year with her great New England band, Fred Boyle (piano), Rich Hill (bass) and Steve Langone (drums).

She calls Cape Cod home but tours nationally and internationally all year, filling the best venues from Boston to New York to San Francisco to New Zealand. She has appeared on ABC’s “20/20,” NPR, MTV and in the film A Simple Matter of Justice. Her PBS fundraiser, “Suede, Live at Scullers Jazz Club,” has aired on over 50 stations nationally. Her rendition of the Roxanna Ward/Lynn DeFino song “Remember Who You Are” was recently featured on the soap opera “The Young and the Restless” and is featured on HRC’s compilation disc Being Out Rocks with other artists of note such as Sarah McLachlan, Rufus Wainright, k.d. Lang, Harvey Fierstein, Janis Ian, Cyndi Lauper, The B-52’s and others. She also holds the distinction of being the first and only female member of the world renowned a cappella group The Flirtations, seen in Jonathan Demme’s film Philadelphia. Her CD, On the Day We Met, features “Emily Remembers,” which became the number 1 song of the year on WJZW jazz radio in Washington, DC. She recently released a big band CD, Dangerous Mood, recorded at (Tony) Bennett studios in NYC, with her own hand-picked big band and is beginning to work on the next CD project.

With a strong belief in the responsibility that comes with any degree of celebrity, Suede has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for various causes she supports, including affordable housing, Breast Cancer awareness and research, AIDS funding, Alzheimer’s Care and research, Animal rights and more.

And, she’s FUNNY! From unbelievable a cappella to “bring down the house” belting blues, Suede delivers it all with her own unique blend of warmth, wit and musical artistry.
