Laura Cappello and John Thomas will premiere their new show titled Past Present on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 7pm at Tin Pan Alley, Provincetown’s popular live entertainment venue. Their concert performance of jaunty, fun and memorable melodies from yesterday and today, includes songs made famous by Patsy Cline and other vocalists. This special event inaugurates the Tin Pan Artist Jam winter performance series on Thursday evenings with music, art, food, drink and conviviality. Tin Pan Alley features dozens of pianists, singers and musicians throughout the year.
Laura Cappello is well known to Cape Cod audiences for her popular performances as Patsy Cline in various productions since 2002. John Thomas is a music director, pianist, vocalist and performer. Cappello and Thomas made musical magic together in Provincetown Theater’s recent sold-out production of Always… Patsy Cline. Kathi Scrizzi Driscoll of the Cape Cod Times wrote: “Cappello has been beautifully portraying the groundbreaking country singer to rave reviews for 16 years in a half-dozen extended runs…. With a sweet and sometimes husky alto and spot-on period stylings, Cappello uncannily inhabits Cline’s serene, controlled and confident stage persona” and “mixes torch song with poignancy and honky tonk” in dozens of hit songs.
Laura Cappello has also been seen in multiple stage productions including Grease, Little Shop of Horrors, Leader of the Pack, Ruthless, Gypsy, Snowman in the Dunes, The Crucible, Heart Stoppers and You Can’t Take It With You. She enjoys being part of the Cape Cod theatre community. Theatre has always played an active role in her life, from being onstage in costumes hand-made by her mother, as well as sitting in awe in the audience, watching the magic of live theatre unfold.
