Provincetown’s world-renowned extravaganza celebrating Halloween is about to begin! Provincetown Halloween festivities begin Thursday and extend through the weekend with spooky parties, haunted dances, events for families and a costume ball. Perhaps being home to America’s oldest and continuous permanent artist colony lends to the aura of expressionism that creates the grand scale of town’s Halloween celebration.
The Halloween Costume Ball at Town Hall is a must, but also some of the most elaborate costuming is saved for parading in the streets, where visitors from all over come to view and enjoy.
October 20 – November 2: Day of the Dead Performing Arts Festival
Inspired by the Mexican traditions of El Día de los Muertos, the two-week Festival includes a story slam, art workshops, death education, a procession, an ofrenda exhibition, performing arts and a dance party!
The Festival begins October 20 with a death-themed story slam produced by The Mosquito. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the AIDS Support Group Cape Cod. The Festival culminates on November 2 (the official “Day of the Dead”) with a featured performance.

Thursday, October 31: Greet N’ Treat
Bring the kids to the 4th annual Provincetown Halloween Greet N’ Treat! The parade begins at 4:30pm and ends at 6pm at Motta Field, where Provincetown businesses and organizations will be parked with decorated vehicles and handing out candy to the kids. 11am FLAG Flag Football is happy to be hosting our first ever Spooky Bowl in Provincetown! In similar fashion to Beach Bowl, we will be playing games outdoors. Saturday, November 2: Black-and-Gold Halloween Ball at Town Hall
8 pm – Midnight When they opened their hotel in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Salt Hotel founders and owners Kevin O’Shea and David Bowd threw a black-and-gold party and in the middle of it they looked at each other and said, “Why aren’t we doing this in Provincetown?” Last year, for the first time, they took over Town Hall with the Black-and-Gold Halloween Ball, a benefit for the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod. “It was a huge success,” says O’Shea. “We’d always wanted to do something for this town.
