By Lynda Sturner**** LaLa loves Cabaret. One of her great joys in life is sitting in a dark intimate club, drinking vodka martinis with olives and listening to great singers tell a story in ways I never heard before. There is nothing better.
She also loves the music of the ’60’s and is already singing along to her favorite songs. So, be still my heart, CabaretFest is coming to town.

Provincetown CabaretFest, May 29-June 2, is now in its 19th year and producer Patricia Fitzpatrick is bringing in over 40 cabaret performers in eight star-studded solo cabaret shows. In addition, there are Luncheons, a Variety Show, Workshops, Celebrity Master Classes and a Sunday Brunch show. “The cabaret festival is more than performances by top entertainers. The heart of the festival is the intensive training master classes, Q&A sessions and workshops we run throughout the festival,” said Fitzpatrick. “CabaretFest is promoting the art of cabaret by teaching, training and throughout the festival, offering our audiences the intimate night club experience.” This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Sharon McNight, who will teach a Master Class at the festival. Her show, Gone But Not Forgotten, will be at Pilgrim House.

In his Provincetown debut, this year’s headliner is Broadway’s Nicholas King, from Beauty & the Beast, A Thousand Clowns and Hollywood Arms. King toured with Liza Minnelli, sang at Carnegie Hall and has been on “The View,” “The Today Show” and “The Tonight Show.” An Evening with Nicholas King with music director Tom LaMark will be at The Provincetown Art House, June 1 at 9pm
These are among the must-see shows:
Marieann Meringolo – New Yorker and MAC and Bistro Award-winner will do a show of ’60’s classics sung by Dionne Warwick, Johnny Mathis and Michel Legrand.

Warren Schein, with music director Tom LaMark – Dream Along With Me – The Perry Como Songbook
CabaretFest producer, Patricia Fitzgerald with music director Brian Patton – Memories of The Playboy Club.
Richard White – Broadway Baby – All Grown Up
Jeff Macauley – A Musical Tribute to the ’60’s

Michael Garin & Mardie Millit – Swingin’ the ’60’s Cabaret Show at The Pilgrim House
‘Steve and Eydie meet The Three Stooges’,musical innuendo, pick-up lines and clever repartée that goes down with surprising ease in the best tradition of piano bar, these neo-modern lounge artists don’t fight the scene – they make it. They will bring with them on their second visit to Cabaret Festival their massive and eclectic repertoire, spanning cultures and eras. Welcome back to Provincetown!
Jeffrey Wright – a lavish Sunday Brunch with Special Guest Star Jeffrey Wright, with Brian Patton Trio
This four–day ’60’s celebration weekend is filled with parties, classes, spectacular entertainment and maybe some surprises. If you’ve always wanted to sing or if you are a performer wanting to learn from the best of them, and you love Cabaret as much as LaLa, does, this is definitely the place to be.
“Cabaret is about the story… not just the song,” Patricia Fitzpatrick
