CabaretFest Review: Richard White at Pilgrim House

By Larry Myers****Richard F. White brought poignancy (in Jack Jones-esque tones) to “Unchained Melody,” “The Lady is a Tramp,” “Where is Love” and “Here’s To Life.” This military officer of 27 years and Broadway star at eight, offered tales of Jimmy Durante, Elaine Stritch, Edward Albee and  Mary Martin. Tales of Henry Sweet Henry, Oliver, The Sound of Music, Sail Away and Holly Golightly are ambrosia for Broadway devotees. Cabaret (similar to poetry’s spontaneous overflow of powerful emotions) should be a celebration of life not a substitution for life. Rich’s compassion and conviction in sharing authentic life experiences in succinct remembrances added resonance to all.

His poignant rendering of  “There’s No Business Like show Business” brought me to tears!
