The 2019 Provincetown International Film Festival will open this Wednesday, June 12 and run through Sunday, June 16. Films from all over the world by LGBT+ filmmakers or with LGBT+ themes, will be shown throughout the five-day Film Festival, at various Ptown venues.
The Film Festival has also announced that actress Judith Light will receive their Excellence in Acting Award. The two time Tony Award-winner will attend the festival to accept the award on Saturday, June 15 in conversation at Provincetown Town Hall.
2019 Filmmaker on the Edge honoree, John Cameron Mitchell, will present his film of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which is firmly established as a pop culture phenomenon. ,
Actress and producer Jillian Bell will receive the festival’s third annual “Next Wave Award,” which recognizes those who have exciting and distinctive voices, take artistic risks and have a passionate commitment to independent film. Bell will be in attendance to accept the award in conversation and in support of her film Brittany Runs A Marathon, which will open the festival.
The Provincetown Film Society is an advocate for diverse representation in film, providing programming and platforms that allow voices of all kinds to be heard via film.
